bursting with flavor

nothing can cure a cold, rainy minnesota day like cheese, crackers and wine. so today, i am posting about my tasty dinner. {see, i can have cheese, crackers and wine as my dinner... gosh i love being independent}. the cheese is called murcia al vino or drunken goat. it is a spanish goat cheese with a rind washed in wine: just radiating with rich flavor. {best served at room temperature for the ease of spreading and definition of the true goat cheese flavor. so flavorful that just one little sliver 'll do. i sprinkled herb de provence for an earthy zest. the crackers: heathy little buggers.... almond rice thins: super crispy & salty, and extremely addicting. and finally, a big glass of 2009 lodi zinfandel by Plungerhead. loving the flavor blends of dried strawberry, dark raspberry, plum sauce, cedar, and pomegranate and hit of white pepper and cherry liquor {no, i couldn't really taste and distinguish those specific flavors, i cheated and looked it up. but it sure tastes like a blend of all that} it is deep, toasty, and fruity but in a brambly sort of way. the packaging is great as well! it has a very unique "twist off".... you'll have to get one yourself too see what i mean.!

vacay from our vacay

we took a vacation from our vacation. drove just 2 hours from the great so cal and landed spot on in palm springs {which leads me to clearly realize i must have slept straight through geography class: i had been thinking that PS was near texas} 

the whole town while being framed by tall snowy mountains is funky, colorful, and super cool 

i mean, come on.... orange trees?! get out!

we found our mirage in the desert: the Riviera hotel downtown. we came to find that 2 days and 1 night was not nearly enough. the Riviera was F A N T A S T I C, the perfect blend of relaxation and sheer ingenuity. for the two days that we were there, we just laid back and kicked it in the pool

to our surprise on Sunday night, there was a funky little jazz band playing classic 70's disco tunes poolside. a little bit of that with champagne and truffle fries did it in

Easter basket goodies

forget the peeps {sorry folks, i never liked them... been faking it the whole time!} and starburst jelly beans, here are a few updated ideas for the easter baskets.

1. CAKE POPS: crumbled cake with frosting, rolled into a ball, then dipped in chocolate. for Easter, they MUST be pastel in color
2. MARSHMALLOWS: soft and luxurious. you can purchase them at bonbonbar. you can even buy a slab to cut out Easter shaped treats

creativity before consumption

i came across this stylist's portfolio and loved how she uses bright pops of rich color to accent a real home. there is usually one unusual/abstract item and the rest are your average-joe items you can snag from a garage sale. i also like her balanced mindset in how she views her profession and reality. emily's motto is "creativity before consumption" --she extends this philosophy to her professional work. finding ways to use paint or reupholster or recreate before hitting up the stores. however, when it's time to shop, she prefers flea markets and thrift stores. she quotes: "i learned to be both creative and resourceful. i found ways to make a space my own without spending a fortune and i started to live by the idea of creativity before consumption. it's a rule i try to follow in both my personal and professional lives and it gives me a great deal of satisfaction."

where can i find this tulle swimsuit?!? it's absolute perfection. there was no link attached to it. i might just have to put it on my list of things to make... stay tuned, i might just do so

Chocolately-Eggs

mmm... just in time for Easter treats... chocolate "quail" eggs! white chocolate eggs are filled with milk chocolate nougatine centers speckled to perfection. {i would love to taste-test with dark chocolate & sea-salt}. they are the perfect size to snack on and the cute egg carton packaging is a bonus. get them from here
